Veteran photographer Dow is renowned for his work that stretches across fashion, advertising and experimental photography. ‘Quiet Encounters’ (2016) is a series from his travels around Thailand recording peri-urban landscapes between the towns he was visiting. For Dow, this raw mixture of development blurs the space between urban and rural. In life, ordinary incidents can turn into something stimulating and invigorating. Dow’s photographs bring to attention mundane scenes that we tend to glance without noticing. His journey in search for bliss reveals glimpses of overlapping and obscured boundaries of lifestyles by ordinary folks. Life without having to make judgments based on pretentious values set by others.

ช่างภาพชาวไทยที่ประสบความสำเร็จด้านการถ่ายภาพแฟชั่นและโฆษณา รวมไปถึงในด้านการทำงานศิลปะร่วมสมัย ประเด็นที่ศิลปินให้ความสนใจมีตั้งแต่การทำภาพถ่ายให้กลายเป็นงานศิลปะแนวเหนือจริง ไปจนถึงการทำวิจัยอย่างเข้มข้นเรื่องกลุ่มคนชายขอบ ดังที่เห็นได้จากนิทรรศการ Quiet Encounters ปีพ.ศ. 2559 (จัดแสดงที่หอศิลปวิทยนิทรรศน์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย) ที่ศิลปินเดินทางไปยังพื้นที่ต่างๆ และบันทึกภาพภูมิทัศน์สิ่งแวดล้อมของพื้นที่เมืองและชนบท เพื่อพูดถึงการเปลี่ยนแปลง ที่ปัจจุบันพื้นที่เมืองและชนบทเริ่มเหลื่อมซ้อนเข้าหากันจนแยกจากกันไม่ชัดเจนขึ้นเรื่อยๆ ภาพถ่ายของดาวทำให้เราหันกลับมามองสิ่งคุ้นตาที่เห็นเป็นประจำอีกครั้งในมุมมองใหม่ เส้นทางการค้นหาความสุขของดาว จะฉายให้เราเห็นภาพของเส้นแบ่งบางๆ ระหว่างคำว่าไลฟ์สไตล์และวิถีชาวบ้าน และเห็นชีวิตที่ปราศจากการตัดสินโดยค่านิยมที่คนอื่นเป็นคนตั้งขึ้นมา
