Komkrit Tepthian

Komkrit Tepthian was born in Suphanburi, Thailand. He graduated Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts at King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang in 2007, later obtained Master’s degree in Sculpture and Graphic Arts from Silpakorn University in 2015. The artist now serves as a Special Lecturer at King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang and at Vocational Training Center, Wat Worachanyawas, Bangkok.

Since 2011, Komkrit has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Thailand and also in group exhibitions internationally in Laos, Turkey, Japan, and more. He has been a part of international exhibitions and conferences such as Art Central Hong Kong 2018, Art Stage Singapore 2018, Solo Exhibition Iconography in Contemporary Condition Art Season Gallery in Singapore, Early Years Project 2017 at BACC in Bangkok, Kenpoku Art Festival 2016 in Japan, and Erciyes International Snow Sculpture Symposium 2012 in Turkey.

Highlighting the value and significance of historical buildings and objects, the Iconography in Contemporary Conditions series serves as an informative tool and historical record of a myriad of events and core local wisdom in each era. The works were inspired by the artist’s field visits at multiple historical sites in Thailand and were moved by the loss and destruction of valuable tokens.His work in solo exhibitions features Komkrit’s clever and witty use of everyday objects, combining with his exceptional sculpture skills to create works of art that question and challenge the audience’s view and experience.

เกิด พ.ศ. 2528, สุพรรณบุรี, พำนักและทำงานที่ กรุงเทพฯ ประเทศไทย

จบการศึกษาปริญญาตรีจากคณะสถาปัตยกรรมศาสตร์ ภาควิชาวิจิตรศิลป์ สถาบันเทคโนโลยีพระจอมเกล้าเจ้าคุณทหารลาดกระบัง (สจล.) และปริญญาโทจากคณะจิตรกรรมประติมากรรมและภาพพิมพ์ วิชาเอกประติมากรรม มหาวิทยาลัยศิลปากร ปัจจุบันเป็นศิลปินอิสระ และอาจารย์พิเศษประจำสาขาวิชาประติมากรรม สจล. และอาจารย์จ้างเหมาสาขาวิชาประติมากรรม สถาบันบัณฑิตพัฒนศิลป์ นอกจากนี้ยังเป็นวิทยากรวิชาสิ่งประดิษฐ์จากเรซิน ที่ศูนย์ฝึกอาชีพกรุงเทพมหานคร วัดวรจรรยาวาส

คมกฤษมุ่งความสนใจไปที่การถ่ายทอดแนวคิดด้านประติมานวิทยาในการทำงานศิลปะ ด้วยความที่เขาเติบโตมาในสภาพแวดล้อมที่เต็มไปด้วยโบราณสถานและโบราณวัตถุ ท่ามกลางความเชื่อในศาสนาพุทธ ทำให้งานของเขาสะท้อนแนวคิดการอนุรักษ์มรดกวัฒนธรรมในภาษาของตัวเอง ผ่านงานประติมากรรมและศิลปะจัดวางด้วยวัสดุและเทคนิคจากยุคร่วมสมัย เช่นการใช้เลโก้ ประกอบกับรูปปั้นเทวรูป หรือรูปเคารพทางศาสนา หรือการใช้ของเล่นเด็กพลาสติกที่พบได้ทั่วไปผสมผสานกับการหล่อรูปปั้นประติมากรรมด้วยวัสดุที่หนักแน่นจริงจัง โดยมักจะมีการเน้นเนื้อหาและการจัดวาง ให้เข้ากับบริบทของพื้นที่ที่งานได้ถูกนำไปจัดแสดง ด้วยความสนใจที่แตกต่างกันแบบสุดขั้วนี้เอง ที่ทำให้งานของคมกฤษสร้างความประหลาดใจให้กับผู้ชมได้เสมอ

คมกฤษได้เข้าร่วมแสดงนิทรรศการและการประชุมสัมนาระดับนานาชาติ เช่น KENPOKU ART 2016 (Daigo-Ibaraki, ญี่ปุ่น, 2559) Diversity Voice (หอศิลป์ตาดูไทยยานยนตร์, กรุงเทพฯ, 2559) International Sand Art festival (เวียงจันทน์, ลาว, 2558) International Erciyes Snow Sculpture Symposium,ไกเซรี, ตุรกี, 2555), ปี พ.ศ. 2560 เขาได้รับเลือกเข้าร่วมโครงการบ่มเพาะศิลปินรุ่นใหม่และแสดงนิทรรศการ Early Years Project ครั้งที่ 1 จัดโดย หอศิลปวัฒนธรรมแห่งกรุงเทพมหานคร, ปี พ.ศ. 2561 นิทรรศการเดี่ยว Iconography in Contemporary Condition, Art Season Gallery สิงคโปร์ และ ที่ Art Central ฮ่องกง และ Art Stage สิงคโปร์
