Natee Utarit

Natee has walked the Arts path since college. He graduated from the College of Fine Art with a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Arts from the Painting and Sculpture Faculty at Silpakorn University. He is a Thai Artist who explores the medium of painting and connects it with photography and classical Western Art.

Initially influenced by German Expressionism and abstract art in his early body of work, Utarit has undergone an exploration on the medium of painting, connecting it with photography and classical Western Art. Light and perspective are some of the elements the artist chose to work with, focusing on painting as a mean to explore image making.\

His recent solo exhibitions include, “Illustration of The Crisis” at ARNDT Berlin, Germany 2012 and at Art Season Gallery, Zurich, Switzerland 2011, “After Painting” at the Singapore Art Museum, Singapore 2010 and “The Amusement of Dreams, Hope and Perfection” at the Art Center of Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand 2007.

Selected group exhibitions are for instance, “Negotiating Home, History and Nation: Two decades of contemporary art in Southeast Asia 1991-2011” at the Singapore Art Museum, Singapore 2011 and “Clouds, Power of Asian Contemporary Art” at the Soka Art Center, 798, Beijing, China 2010. His work is part of renowned collections, such the Bangkok University, the Queensland Art Gallery, the Singapore Art Museum, as well as private collections in Europe and Asia.

นที อุตฤทธิ์ เข้าศึกษาที่วิทยาลัยช่างศิลป์ ปี พ.ศ. 2531 และจบการศึกษาจากคณะจิตรกรรม ประติมากรรมและภาพพิมพ์ฯ มหาวิทยาลัยศิลปากร ประเทศไทย ปี พ.ศ. 2534 ผลงานของเขาเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของคอลเลคชั่นที่มีชื่อเสียง เช่นที่ Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art เมืองบริสเบน ออสเตรเลีย, Singapore Art Museum ที่สิงคโปร์, Burger Collection ที่ฮ่องกง รวมถึงคอลเลคชั่นส่วนบุคคลที่ประเทศไทย ยุโรป และเอเชีย

จิตรกรรมที่หลากหลายของ นที มุ่งเน้นไปที่การทดลองการเชื่อมต่อระหว่างการวาดภาพกับรูปถ่าย สุนทรียะและการอ้างอิงถึงประวัติศาสตร์ศิลปะตะวันตก แสงและทัศนมิติบางอย่างที่ศิลปินเลือกใช้ในการสร้างงาน เป็นส่วนหนึงของความพยายาม ในการค้นคว้าหาแนวทางใหม่ๆ ในการสร้างงานจิตรกรรมที่ต่างออกไปจากงานเหมือนจริง หรืองานบันทึกทางประวัติศาสตร์ จิตรกรรมที่มีภาพบุคคลและวัตถุต่างๆ ที่ซับซ้อนต่างที่มาของเขา ซ่อนอุปมาไว้หลากหลายมากมาย และมีความหมายพาดพิงถึงความเป็นไปอย่างกว้างๆ เกี่ยวกับสถานการณ์ปัจจุบันของประเทศไทยทั้งทางสังคมและการเมือง
