Sunanta Phasomwong

Sunanta is an art-enthusiast and a self-taught artist since childhood from Sisaket province in Thailand. She studied in Faculty of Fine Arts majoring in Fine Artsin Ubon Ratchathani Vocational College and graduated Vocational Certificate and HighVocational Certificate respectively.
Growing up as the youngest daughter in a family without a father due to divorce, the artist did not have such a smooth start in life. Since nine years old with her father existed only in her memory, Sunanta grew up with a plan to study at Silpakorn University but did not fulfill her wish because of her mother’s serious illness of uterine fibroid. Undergone emergency surgery with high expense,Sunanta changed her plan tostudy Visual Arts majoring in Painting at Mahasarakham University instead until she graduated in 2011.
During her studies, she discovered the creativity inartwork by applying the experiences from the memories of her family in the past as well as using thesuffering of her mind effects as an expressive media. Therefore, she started to further her Master’s degreein Visual Art at the same institute to continuously develop her creative artwork. The artist hadthe opportunities to show her creative artworks in group exhibition and joined various project in both national and international stages.
Sunanta received scholarships to create her dissertation in both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from General Prem Tinsulanonda Statesman Foundation. During the completion of her university dissertation,she brought her work to compete in the 60th National Exhibition of Art in 2016 and was considered to win the 3rd prize Bronze Medal Award (Mixed Media).
A year later, she also won the 2nd prize Silver Medal Award (Mixed Media) in the 62nd National Exhibition of Art in 2017. Later, she was chosen as a representative of Thai artists to create a wax sculpture in Ubon Ratchathani International Wax Festival 2017 with other foreign artists from 9 countries.
In the middle of the same year, Sunanta has taken the role of a lecturer in Fine Arts Program at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Ubon Ratchathani Rajabhat University. Then in 2018, she was chosen tobe one of ten artists in Thailand to win Art Education Award (Best Artwork) and to receive the scholarship for study tour in USA with other national artists.

สุนันทา ผาสมวงค์ สำเร็จการศึกษาระดับปริญญาตรีและโท สาขาวิชาทัศนศิลป์ จิตรกรรม จากคณะศิลปกรรมศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยมหาสารคาม จังหวัดมหาสารคาม ปัจจุบันเป็นอาจารย์ประจำ สาขาวิชาศิลปกรรม คณะมนุษย์ศาสตร์และสังคมศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยราชภัฏอุบลราชธานี
สุนันทา เริ่มสนใจงานศิลปะตั้งแต่เด็ก แม้จะไม่ได้รับการสนับสนุนจากครอบครัวเท่าที่ควร เนื่องจากมองว่าเป็นอาชีพที่ไม่มั่นคง แต่ด้วยความมุ่งมั่น จึงได้เข้าเรียนที่คณะศิลปกรรม สาขา วิชาวิจิตรศิลป์ ที่วิทยาลัยอาชีวะ อุบลราชธานี จากนั้นเริ่มเส้นทางศิลปินสายสร้างสรรค์ ตามคำแนะนำของ อาจารย์นนทิวรรธน์ กาญจนผลิน คณะบดีในขณะนั้น ที่ช่วยเปลี่ยนความคิดว่าศิลปะไม่ได้มีค่าเพียงการหาเลี้ยงชีพอีกต่อไป
สุนันทา เริ่มต้นการทำงานวาดเส้นด้วยปากกาสีดำ สร้างงานสองมิติบนผืนผ้าใบ จากนั้นจึง พัฒนามาใช้วัสดุอื่นแทนการวาดเส้นเพื่อให้ภาพมีความเป็น 3 มิติมากขึ้น จนกลายเป็นงานศิลปะสื่อผสมที่มีวัสดุหลักคือ ลวด ทั้งที่เป็นเส้นลวดขึ้นสนิม, เส้นลวดสีดำและสีเงิน ขดลวดเหล่านี้แทนความทุกข์ในจิตใต้สำนึกที่ศิลปินโหยหา ความรักและความอบอุ่นจากผู้เป็นพ่อที่ไม่มีอะไรสามารถทดแทนได้
สำหรับเกียรติประวัติต่างๆ ที่เคยได้รับมี อาทิ พ.ศ.2560 รางวัลเกียรตินิยมอันดับสอง เหรียญเงิน การแสดงศิลปกรรมแห่งชาติครั้งที่ 63 ประเภทงานสื่อผสม, พ.ศ.2559 ได้รับคัดเลือกให้เป็นตัวแทนศิลปินไทย สร้างสรรค์ประติมากรรมเทียนนานาชาติ เทศกาล UBON INTERNATIONAL WAX FESTIVAL 2016, พ.ศ.2559 รางวัลเกียรตินิยมอันดับสอง เหรียญเงิน ศิลปกรรมแห่งชาติครั้งที่ 62 ผลงานสื่อผสม
