Growing up in an ethnic labor community, Sornchai witnessed the poor quality life of laborors, especially those working in industrial factories. In Bangkok, a report reveals that the number of immigrant workers recently ranked over 240,000. In his participatory work titled, ‘Alien Capital,’ the artist reflects upon the marginalized life, the unnoticeable identity of these workers. Set in a big container of a construction site is the display of video, photos and documents disclosing their daily existence and data like forged employment papers. The container is wrapped with loose bamboo structures tied up together with red nylon rope signifying workers’ united efforts against all hardship.

จากชีวิตวัยเด็กที่เติบโตในสังคมแรงงานต่างด้าวในโรงงานอุตสาหกรรมก่อนจะได้สัญชาติไทย ทำให้ศรชัย สนใจเรื่องสิทธิและสถานะทางสังคมของแรงงานเหล่านี้ โดยเฉพาะในพื้นที่กรุงเทพฯ ซึ่งมีอยู่มากกว่า 240,000 คน ผลงานชุด ‘ผีในเมือง’ ของเขาจึงสะท้อนสภาวะความไร้ตัวตน การถูกกดขี่และเบียดบังในหลายครั้ง ผ่านงานจัดวางที่ประกอบด้วยตู้คอนเทนเนอร์ แสดงรูปถ่าย วิดีโอการว่าจ้าง การปลอมเอกสารสมัครงาน ข้าวของเครื่องใช้ ตัวตู้ถูกหุ้มด้วยโครงสร้างไม้ไผ่ขัดสานกันเหมือนนั่งร้าน มัดด้วยเชือกไนลอนสีแดง เพื่อสื่อถึงการปรับตัวและอยู่ร่วมกันของกลุ่มแรงงาน
